Mr. Michaels is one of the industry’s most sought-after retail experts; he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Urban Land Economics Research at the School of Business of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and formerly served in various roles, including Vice Chairman of General Growth Properties, Inc.
Barbara Zvan and her team provide liability and risk expertise focused on long‐term Total Fund investment strategy, risk management and the governance framework. Ms. Zvan and her team are also charged with ensuring the Plan is sustainable, and that the funding risk is aligned to the Board's Risk Appetite Statement.
Ms. Zvan joined Ontario Teachers' in 1995 as an assistant portfolio manager and has risen to positions of increasing authority. As Chief Risk & Strategy Officer, she leads the Strategy & Risk team in supporting the Plan Sponsors in plan design decisions and the Board in determining the appropriate benchmarks and risk appetite. Ms. Zvan and her team provide input and risk insights to the Investing teams and create an effective risk management framework to underpin it. In addition, Ms. Zvan drives the responsible investing and climate change risk management and strategy for the Fund and directs the Enterprise and Operational Risk Management approach for the organization.
Ms. Zvan is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and holds an M.Math from the University of Waterloo.
Ms. Zvan serves as Chair of the International Centre of Pension Management (ICPM). Barbara also serves on the boards of Cadillac Fairview, Global Risk Institute and the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance.
She was honoured as one of Canada's 2008 Top 40 Under 40.
Mr. Crovitz has worked in the retail sector for over 30 years. He joined The Children’s Place Inc. in 2004 as its interim Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that, he served in various roles, including Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer with Gap Inc. and Chief Information Officer with Safeway Inc. He is an experienced corporate director having served on several corporate boards over the last number of years, and is currently Chair of the Board of Essendant, Inc. (NASDAQ: ESNT).
Chuck graduated with an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and obtained his Juris Doctor from Stanford Law.
Mr. Macnab joined National Retail Properties as CEO in February 2004, where he refocused the company’s investment activities exclusively on net-leased retail properties. Previously, Craig worked in the financial service industry including Lazard Freres, JC Bradford and Tandem Capital, which he founded in 1997.
Jane Rowe is Executive Managing Director and head of Ontario Teachers’ Equities department. Comprised of Private Capital and High Conviction Equities (HCE), the department's mission is to deliver growth through investment in both private and publicly traded entities.
Jane sits on the Investments and Risk committees of the Plan and chairs the Investments Division Credit and Counterparty Committee. She serves on the boards of Cadillac Fairview, Ontario Teachers’ wholly-owned real estate subsidiary, Arterra Wines Canada and Camelot Group PLC, the operator of the U.K. National Lottery.
Ms. Aufreiter brings more than 20 years of apparel and retail industry experience to Cadillac Fairview.
Ms. Aufreiter was a Director at McKinsey & Company, where she spent 27 years leading Branding, Retail and Omnichannel practices.
She holds a BA, Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School.
Javier San Juan
President & Chief Executive Officer, L'Oréal Latin American Region
Mr. San Juan leads L'Oréal Latin American Region as President and Chief Executive Officer. He has spent over 25 years with L’Oreal working in various positions in France, Spain, Russia, Romania, Argentina and Canada, where he was also President and Chief Executive Officer.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University ICADE in Spain, as well as the diplôme HEC from the Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Paris. He is a co-founder of Gibraltar Corporation and sits on its advisory board. Mr. San Juan also serves as an international advisory board member of the Schulich School of Business at York University
Ms. O'Donovan is an experienced public company board member and strategic senior executive with over 30 years of Canadian and Global Financial Services industry experience. She brings in-depth knowledge in the areas of executive leadership, risk management, regulatory, governance, financial management, technology, operations and internal audit. Ms. O’Donovan is eligible to serve as a “Qualified Audit Committee Financial Expert” as defined by the TSX, SEC and NYSE, and as of 2009, Ms. O'Donovan is a Fellow Chartered Accountant.
Mr. Boychuk is an experienced corporate director having served on a number of public as well as private sector Boards. His extensive background in finance, pension and investment management was developed during a 40-year career. Until his retirement in June 2015, he was President of Bimcor Inc; one of Canada’s largest private sector pension plan managers. Prior to that, he served in various senior positions, including Senior Vice President and Corporate Treasurer of BCE Inc. and Bell Canada. Mr. Boychuk graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and went on to obtain a Chartered Accountant designation and Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from the same institution. In 2012, he was appointed a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants (Quebec).
