“Nothing says it’s the holidays quite like a trip to the mall, and we want each and every one of our guests to have an unforgettable experience when they step into a CF shopping centre this season,” commented Jason Anderson, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Cadillac Fairview. “Through our iconic décor elements and innovative experiences, we are inspiring visitors to reflect on the true meaning of this joyous occasion by bringing guests of all ages together to enjoy the wonders of the season.”
The festive enhancements feature a combination of physical and digital offerings that are bound to mesmerize and delight families and holiday enthusiasts alike.
Iconic Holiday Décor
A number of properties including, CF Promenades St-Bruno, CF Carrefour Laval, CF Rideau Centre, CF Masonville Place, CF Sherway Gardens, CF Toronto Eaton Centre, CF Polo Park, and CF Pacific Centre, will feature an artful display of holiday sculptures ranging from opulent 15-foot-tall floor pieces to stunning décor elements suspended from the ceiling. The new décor will feature beautifully crafted LED reindeer and moose, Christmas trees, garland, and impressive giant walk-through ornaments located at mall entrances and throughout shopping centres.
Additionally, the shopping centres will unveil their own brand new, specially designed Christmas tree, highlighted by a colossal 100-foot-tall installation at CF Toronto Eaton Centre. CF Pacific Centre will debut a 40-foot-tall Christmas tree with the remaining six centres each showcasing 36-foot-tall Christmas trees for guests to enjoy. Community members are invited to experience tree lighting ceremonies on November 17th at CF Pacific Centre, and on November 24th at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, with each event featuring captivating musical performances.
Introducing The Tufties™ and Magic Gift Workshop
Canadians will be introduced to the wonderful and wintery world of The Tufties this holiday season. Originating from Northern Canada, The Tufties are six fuzzy gift-loving animated creatures created by Cadillac Fairview. Cadillac Fairview has developed a heart-warming, two-minute short film about The Tufties, inspired by the spirit of giving and its power to bring people together, that will be played at select Cineplex movie theatres and be available online.
A new augmented reality mobile game called The Tufties Magic Gift App (available for iOS and Android devices) creates interactive holiday experiences at 19 CF properties. Once the free app is downloaded, users can climb the peaks of Snowy Mountain, dig through the depths of the Icy Cave or explore the winding paths of the Frozen Maze to find ‘Holiday Magic’ by activating the augmented reality portal on their device and identifying game markers located throughout local CF shopping centres.
The Tufties will be online to spread holiday magic even further into shoppers’ homes with an interactive digital experience called, The Tufties Gift Wrapping Academy. The web experience takes users through a series of gift wrapping challenges that leaves players with a shareable gift they can send out to their networks.
CF is extending its popular Magic Gift Workshop to several properties this holiday season. This unique, family-oriented and interactive experience transforms traditional gift wrapping into a moment of pure magic, courtesy of the Tufties. The complimentary and personalized gift wrapping service, which enables users to choose their own wrapping paper and include a custom message, will be featured at CF Lime Ridge, CF Carrefour Laval and CF Promenades St. Bruno starting on November 19th. Guests can pre-register for their own Magic Gift Workshop experience online or directly in-property.
Original Interactive Experiences – Love Lights
To help brighten the holiday experience for visitors, CF Sherway Gardens will be introducing Canada’s first ever interactive kinetic light sculpture. This unique sculpture is 35-feet-tall and is illuminated by hundreds of LED “Love Lights” shaped like crystals that glow and move independently to form 3D shapes and patterns and create a spectacular lightshow.
The Love Lights are equipped with interactive pads where guests can stand, which make the sculpture come to life in bright and unexpected ways, allowing guests to create holiday magic by coming together under the Love Lights. Branded take-home CF Love Light smart decorations that can be programmed to light up when message notifications are received will also be available for a minimum $20 donation. In support of Cadillac Fairview’s philanthropic mission to empower youth-leaders in Canada, all proceeds will benefit WE’s domestic programming, an ongoing partnership with WE that supports youth empowerment through local schools across the country.
Online Registration for visits with Santa
The holidays would not be complete without a visit with Santa! A new efficient format introduced this year will allow families to bypass lines and register online to visit Santa at 17 CF shopping centres, including six properties that will debut a new enchanted forest themed Santa set.
Sharing the Magic of the Season on Social Media
CF is inspiring shoppers to capture their own holiday magic this season by sharing photos of shopping experiences at their local CF shopping centre. From November 24th to December 11th, participants can post creative and compelling imagery or video content featuring festive decor or holiday experiences to Instagram using #CFHolidayMagic and tagging the shopping centre for a chance to win a CF SHOP! Card. Shoppers without an Instagram account are also encouraged to upload photos to the gallery on the contest webpage. One shopper will be rewarded with a $2,000 CF SHOP!
