London, Ontario (November 3, 2016) – Cadillac Fairview (CF) is proud to unveil the results of its $77-million investment at CF Masonville Place. The year-long project represents a comprehensive revitalization of the 31-year-old shopping centre. The expansion area comprises 127,000 square feet of redeveloped retail space spanning two levels, occupying the former Sears location.

Enhanced retail and culinary offering
The redevelopment project began in 2015 and marks the first major renovation the shopping centre has seen since opening in 1985. CF Masonville Place proudly welcomes 13 new retailers and services to the expansion, including the first ZARA in market, H&M, Hot Topic, NYX Cosmetics, as well as Sport Chek / Atmosphere (opening early 2017). New restaurant partners including The Keg Steakhouse + Bar (opening early 2017), aroma espresso bar, and Nando’s will enhance and diversify the mix of premium and casual dining options. Within the past year, CF Masonville Place has welcomed ten exciting new retailers to the centre including Michael Kors, Brown’s, Lindt, Saje, Lush, Ivivva, Kiehl’s, Sephora, Freshii, as well as the first Disney Store in the region.
Contemporary Design and Digital Amenities
To complement the retail expansion, interior renovations and enhancements have been undertaken throughout the shopping centre including new porcelain floor tile and wall finishes, new glass and stainless steel handrails, as well as the addition of a new centre court staircase. These installations will be completed by December.
Additionally, CF Masonville Place offers consumers free enhanced WiFi access and CF SHOP! Text, a text-message-based concierge service which provides customers access to directions, information and store suggestions with the click of a button. Complimentary portable mobile charging stations available at Guest Service kiosks and interactive digital directories can also be found throughout the centre to help shoppers stay connected and informed.
As part of Cadillac Fairview’s ongoing commitment to London and its surrounding communities, the team at CF Masonville Place conducted a building accessibility audit in an effort to find ways to enhance accessibility for all visitors within the centre.
Suggested recommendations for improvements in the redevelopment areas are under way with expected completion by November 30, 2016. Improvements include tactile warning strips located on the edge of stairs, a universal washroom added in the food court, reinforcement of operational and maintenance standards, and signage at touch level outfitted with braille and contrast.
“The shopping experience at CF Masonville Place continues to evolve and this was the right time to implement improvements based on our audit,” said Brian O’Hoski, General Manager of CF Masonville Place. “By adding an impressive roster of retailers, improving the interior of the centre and accessibility and digital capabilities, we are responding to the growing expectations of shoppers in the city and our surrounding regions.”
Grand Opening Celebrations on November 4th
CF is hosting an official grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new redevelopment at CF Masonville Place at 11:00 a.m. on Level 2 of the new expansion. The event will feature speaking remarks from Ward Councillor Maureen Cassidy and CF executives. Media and the public are invited to attend. The Keg Steakhouse + Bar and aroma espresso bar will be serving signature menu items from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Students with a valid Western University student ID will have all-day access to a free ride between campus and CF Masonville Place. The free taxi service will run from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Students can catch the dedicated Yellow London Taxis at Saugeen-Maitland Hall and Entrance 6 at CF Masonville Place.
A special student night including live music and giveaways in Centre Court and retailer sampling and promotions throughout the shopping centre will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CF Masonville Place will also host a social media contest inviting consumers to share their shopping experience on social media using the hashtag #MasonvilleChange. Those who use the hashtag and post on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter will be eligible to win one of six CF SHOP! Cards. Winners must be in-property during the event to pick up their gift card.
