As one of North America’s largest developers, owners and operators of commercial real estate we recognize the opportunity to invest in building up the communities in which we work and live. To do that, we’re focusing on empowering and inspiring the next wave of business leaders so they can make a positive impact in their community and the lives of others.
We recognize the importance of contributing to our community through direct participation in social events and charitable work, and we encourage employees to actively engage in volunteer opportunities that matter most to them. We call this initiative “Building Communities,” and our overall goal is to help our employees make a meaningful donation to a charity of their choice. To assist employees with this goal, we offer an annual one day paid absence for volunteering, and we donate $3,000 (for an individual) and $5,000 (for a team) to the charity that our employees chose to volunteer for.
The CF Run/Walk reflects our corporate belief of supporting the communities in which we work and live. Each year, we invite our business partners, tenants, customers, employees, and their families to walk or run 5 km to help raise money for SickKids and POGO.
We are proud to pledge 1 million dollars to Women's College Hospital Foundation for a new, groundbreaking ambulatory care facility providing outstanding and innovative health care. The ambulatory care model is aimed at keeping patients out of hospital by improving prevention and treatment options and enhancing quality of life.
We have committed $600,000 to United Way Toronto and York Region’s Youth Success Strategy, a bold new initiative dedicated to helping youth build the skills that can lead to lifelong employability, with the potential to sustain a family and break the cycle of poverty. We are thrilled to be the first corporate sponsor of such an innovative and crucial service.
As an extension of CF’s new youth-leadership focused philanthropy platform, we are proud to partner with WE to help inspire and empower today’s youth to become leaders in their communities. Our multi-year partnership includes the launch of the first WE store at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, a joint Back to School campaign at our 20 retail properties across Canada, as well as support for students at WE Schools including scholarships to send youth to WE’s Take Action Camp.
Cadillac Fairview also has a sizeable philanthropy budget for charitable requests that are outside of the ones listed above. Our dedicated Charitable Donations Committee accepts requests from a wide range of registered charitable organizations.
